Okay this may sound really noob but can anyone please explain to me how does a break away sinker work?
Having fished in NZ for almost a year I have not yet tried one of those goodies, partly due to the fact that they are quite expensive, so I thought if I get one of those snagged then whoops off it goes 6 bucks.
How do the spikes on the sinker work? Is it true that when fishing on rocks or weedy areas you will less likely to get snagged with one of those as oppose to the ball/torpedo/bank sinker? Is it usual that it is the sinker that get snagged rather than the hooks?
I think I will need to be doing a bit of far casting for the next couple of weeks (landbased, near the harbour bridge, will be casting out towards the mid of AKL harbour for pannies), what sort of sinkers should I be using to avoid the snags?
