Hi Guys,
A couple of years ago at the Red Barn you could get sinkers made out of varying diameter lead wire that looked a bit like a cork screw and attached as a running sinker. These sinkers could be changed simply by unwinding the line from within the sinker. It was dead easy to add/subtract weight instantly wihout cutting the line.
I am nearly out of my stocks and would like more. Does anyone know of a supply in the Auckland area or are any of you sinker makers out there going to fill this niche?
There is a sinker called a sled (i think) any way is has a plastic piece that you put your mainn line through. The weight then slips onto this. The weight is simple to change with out cutting your line.
Not that good for straylining but works well as a running sinker.

No, Its definitely thick lead wire that has been rolled around something like a nail to produce a corkscrew shape about an inch long - you wind your line around the corkscrew until it slides freely as a running sinker then press on the ends to close the spirals up, so you have a kind of solid tube running on your line. To remove the sinker stretch it slichtly and unwind the line. Heavier sinkers use thicker wire. 1/4 ounce is the thickness of a ball point pen tube.
