Try the islands north of Karikari peninsular - at christmas couldn't catch any livies as they were too busy trying to not get eaten. Once we started jigging had two kingies in the boat in about ten minutes.

check this out  500 meters out of mill bay almost bottom of the tide ps 150 light line 15 meters of water

catch a few like this here  and cause there can go down it make for a good scrap with lots of shallow runs . this is a light 150 gm zest jig found it in hunting fishing kerikeri it was the only one (on special too) never seen another.

got this sucker on lure same spot, get kings same way but tend to be smaller than on the jigs. there are heaps of good deeper spots off albert and berghan also on the inside of knuckle point, look at the charts were it comes up there is some goodies, timing is the big factor up there seem to be hot / cold alot. I ll be up there for a week over easter. doing some jigging, good luck!
