JB, You are correct that using multiple hooks or trebles when fishing for kingis out of a kayak or small boat is a recipe for disaster. A fish flapping around dragging hooks with it will only end up impaling someone. With a single hook at least you know it is in the fish's mouth.
I would go with the single hook at the back.
