Head Lumo bead, body lumo and tail lumo.     Wing is white SLF fibre.    Thread is chartreuse UV.  Works as a normal smelt fly in the twilight and as a night fly in the dark.

hi rainbow, what hook sizes do you tie them on? Any chance I could buy a couple to have a go at them at taupo lake edge.

Hi Kenshin    I don't sell flies    For me fly tying is an integral part of fly fishing.    The fun is in the innovation not saving money but that helps too.    Besides all these flies have been tied for jigging although they would no doubt catch fish for a fly fisher.    When I tie streamer type flies for fly casting I add material that avoids tail wrapping.    In jigging that nuisance is not so common and can largely be mitigated when the flies are sunk.    Apart from the lumo flies, which attract fish with the glow I would like to give my jigging flies more natural movement by using finer wing materials.

Try tying your own for that extra thrill of catching a good trout on one of yours.

Cheers
