Headed out to Tiri to do find somewhere out of the wind but Shearer's and Shag weren't the places to be. Snapper were biting closer into the foul so stayed there most the day and tried my new waterproof drone....

Thanks guys... must admit I was in a bit of shock when I lost my last drone. I was trying to do a video for Hulk of his boat he is trying to sell and something went wrong and the drone it just fell out of the air. I was ready to dive in but it sunk pretty quick...
wont have the same problems with this one!

Hey LBGer what waterproof drone are you using? Is it one of those mariner drones or DJI Phantom? I'm currently based over in the UK at the moment but I'll probably pick one up before I come back to NZ.

Cheers

It's the Splash Drone, I suspect it maybe called the mariner in other countries but that's what it's called here. Noel Leeming are selling them. I lost my DJ phantom to the big briny sniff sniff...

Oh sweet! Is that the full auto one that has all the tracking features or just the pro (or basic) drone?

Currently in London at the moment but so tempted to get one! I imagine they price for one in NZ would be through the roof. And guts about the DJI, hope you claimed insurance!

LBGer, as always an excellent report. I do enjoy them.
Bad luck loosing the DJI drone - but as they say about planes with wheels, they only land on water once!
As for the skink, you should have used it as live bait. From your video it looks like a Rainbow skink, another foreign invader from Aussie and recognised as a pest.

No harm in asking him to swim back home and to take 2 possums with him!
But then we do not want those skinks on Tiritiri Matangi Island.

Good report again ,yes  don highlights the risk of boats leaving home and docking on the gulf islands .
Everyone  going to the barrier etc should set up a rat trap on the boat a few days before leaving, look after the islands in the play ground  .

Wil check the skink link, I almost made a joke about skinks being a top secret snapper bait but thought the animal lovers would be offended.
