Went for a fish in an Auckland lake today. Have always known there is tench in there but have only caught perch and Rudd in the past. Never tried overly hard though. Fished for 2 hours and got 8 Rudd and 15 tench, by far the most I've ever caught in 1 sitting. They were between half a lb and 3 lbs but some of the bigger fish were skinny and would proberly be a solid 5 lbs if they were fat. Proberly just spawned because all the smaller ones were fat as. No fancy feeder or anything here, just a size 20 mustad hook baited with bread on a 3m leader onto 10lb braid. Braid floats so fish feel no resistance when they pick up the bait, just watch the line tighten and go under. Also sight fished a few which was quite cool

Hello. I have had a similar experience but without the fish catching result. lol. I have fished there 3 different times this year so far. I won't know the lake for sure but i'm 90% confident we've got the same lake. Had never fished there before until now... Wow, 15 fish, that's brilliant. The big question is: what bait did you use? Please.

The original poster isn't around these days but his post says he was using bread.
