Ok Guys I'm wondering if there is a great option rod to fit both styles of fishing?
I think I will go with a Stella 10,000sw.
Has anybody got any setups not being utilized enough, that could be moved on?
Just one more cast!!!

Ripple fisher make a model that can do both GT79Reversal, otherwise you will need 2 rods

Cheers for the info Guys keep it comming please. Nothing over 160g as would like to be able to do it all day, if possible.
Some of the shallows I have popper fished in Fiji require light poppers as they sink to deep and hook the reefs on casting. Would like to set up one and get it right first time. As have a young family and can't afford to keep buying more and more gear. I have a Stella 5000 but a bit under powered and I have it set up for jigging.

Really need two rods to do either effectively.
If you mostly fish in NZ then probably a stickbait rod is better.....then you can just use stickbaits overseas forget the poppers unless really small.

Seems overkill to have two rods when you first start but it makes a difference to have the right rod......did you see the itm fishing show the other week....nomad catching loads of fish on top, ITM boat not...........???????

We were fishing around them that day aswell and caught loads on stickbaits

Maybe try the JM GT Monster 8'0, good for the lighter poppers and works OK on Stick baits 80gm up to 120gm, Nice match for the Stella 10K.
Hard to find a rod that will do both well but this seems to be OK for me.

I use an OTI Tuna Sniper 24kg popping rod,its Ok,its no Carpenter or Ripple fisher, but I do use it for both. Swims most stickbaits around the 100g mark pretty well, as long as you don't sweep too quick. was only 1/3 of the cost of the pre-mentioned stickbait rods. I also use a CD Gamecaster 10-15kg rod that I got 2nd hand for $200, its a little more sensative in the tip which makes it a little easier to swim stickbaits.
I'm not a price snob, just spend all my cash on damn jigging instead it seemsConfused
Carpenter 1 day, then I'm sure my posts will prob contradict what I've written above.
cut along story short...just use what ever ya can get ya hands on till something better comes along.

I'll echo the JM Monster 80... this is a highlt under rated rod in my opinion.... they are fantastic rods an a pleasure to fish with a 10000SW... it handles medium stickbaits superbly ( starwalkers a perfect match ) and small poppers and casts a mile...

As has been stated above, no rod is going to be perfect for sticks and poppers, but the Monster 80 is a great rod at a good price that will always have a place in your quiver I believe...

If you are going to be throwing lures to 160 grams though its not an option.... sticks to 120 and poppers to 100grams would be my suggestion...
TO RIDE, SHOOT STRAIGHT AND SPEAK THE TRUTH.

hey there, I get this question all the time, " i want a rod to do both" the only rod I have used that I can say did both stick baits and poppers well is the Ripple GT79 Reversal, other rods imo will be a compromise of poppers/stick baits, i guess it comes down to how much popping or stick baiting you are going to do and the coin you want to spend

Sorry for late reply - there is another alternative.

Contact Men in Black on the forum here, he could make you a rod that has 1 butt and 2 tips - one for  poppers and one for stick baits..... cost about 1 and a half rods, cheaper than 2.....
A king on the bricks is worth 5 in a boat.
