Hey guus just looking for a bit of insight. Im looking at buying this rod

Paired with a 200e7 chronarch running 20 pound braid as a new slowjig setup.

Question is, will this rod be fine as a softbait rod also?

I got one, not good for softbaits because you can't cast far with it.

In that case, what would be a good rod suited to both slowjigging and softies with a chronarch spooled with 20lb braid.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I use the okuma nano matrix 100g rod. Its an amazing slow jig rod, and can cast with it with light soft baits fine. Don't get as much distance as my yeehaa 703/daiwa caldia 2500 combo. So it can do both. Dedicated set ups for both are best but the nano matrix with 200 size reel could work. No need for 20lb braid. Go 10lb for the 200size. I put 200m 10lb sufix 832 which breaks at 28lb....way more than enough strength
Mostly soft bait or mostly slow jig?

Thanks heaps for the advice, That rod looks very nice, will definitely look into it, where did you get yours from? I will mostly be slow jigging but it depends on the situation you know.

I got my rod through top catch. Amazing rod. I even prefer it over the likes of shimano jigwrex. Works 20-100g lures best for slow jigging which is the perfect range for the gulf. But have used 150g on it
Can cast 1/4, 3/8ths and 1/2oz fine

yeap bang for bux the okuma nano matrix rods punch well above there weight for sure ,like fishing addicton says ,only thing is a little on the short size for softbaiting IMO but i would probably recommend it as a all rounder also.its what i tell people just getting into softbaiting to get

Thanks and awesome replies guy, I bit the bullet and went to topcatch after work, couldnt resist and now i have a new 100g nano matrix. shes a beaut, hopefully i wont be disappointed!

I would look a a rod around 7 foot, I have fished slow jigs for years with a 7 foot tcurve and used the same rod for softbait with out a problem. Only got the tcurve revo this year. Nice wee rod but pretty limited.

http://www.offshorerods.co.nz/elite.html Fish city sell them for around $250. I use the elite 8-10kg 6'6 for slow jigs/softbaits/light straylining. Great rods for the price!
