Hi all. Merry Xmas.

Not sure if this is the right place.

How do you get on with slow pitch and slow jigs when the the boat is being pushed by the wind against the tide?

For me it's been a frustrating part of lure fishing and I only seem to get fish when the boat is drifting with the tide which halves the days fishing.  Quite often the wind is strong enough to push at about 2 knots in the wrong direction even with a sea anchor out.  To be fair I haven't persevered for long when thats the case..

How do charters that primarily fish lures get on?

I thought about buying one of those little electric motors..?

Cheers

Hi Gared, yes the wind and current if in same direction can be a big problem, only thing to do is use huge drogue or 2 drogues. I will also keep motor in gear to negate the fast drift, electric motor would be ideal. I read another post regarding using one in deep water that electric motor  is hooked up to gps and keeps the boat in one place. Would be the perfect option depending on cost

I think generally charter boats just do one long drift and maybe use slightly heavier lures to get down faster.

There are a lot of times when I am softbaiting or jigging and wish I had a Hobie kayak with its pedal/mirage drive system to keep on top of fish or around a certain reefy area. Otherwise as a kayak fisho I will use my paddle to stay on top of a school.
