Really, I thought the biomaster was a low geared stradic basically. Apparently the biggest selling reel in Japan.

they only bring the PG model at moment.
HG would be good for a starter reel for topwater action

A HG biomaster would be a Stradic, well it is a stradic. Can't Understand the price you have on the Biomaster as Stradic is well under that price and well under the TwinPowerSW. The BioMaster has been available in the Asian markets for years and years and is priced simply a little more than the stradic. Just clever or deceptive marketing I think. The only difference is the lower ratio gear and aesthetics. Sustain and TwinpowerFC would sit above this reel ahead the bio master. Although the TPFC only goes to 6000 size the Sustain goes to 8000 size and is basically a TPFC with different gear and aesthetics.

same as the stradic? then why does it have a different drag system, gearing,handle and titanium spool lip sounds different to me

Sorry, I think I could be mistaken. The standard biomaster that has been available in Asian markets for years is basically a low geared Stradic. This however is the SW model, which is different. Bit like the major differences between TPFC and TPSW. So sincere apologies, my mistake - jumped the gun. The SW does come in a HG as well, available at Shim Reels.

When online stores take over the market discounting and forcing brick and motar shops to close, where are you going to go on a saturday to get tackle and sound advice, or a rod/reel repair in a hurry, oh thats right you will have to send things back to the online store who will then on send it  back to the supplier,who will have to then action the item and then send it back.......nek minute or should i say weeks later. remember good service and advice is worth it!!!

Nice platform for a rant. I never alluded to nor endorsed the point of  overseas purchasing. Think you jumped on the wrong soapbox. Each to their own, I'm sure people realize what they are buying into. I simply pointed to the fact that there is a HG model available. Mob mentality has got to be the lowest form of intelligence.

Mitch, all that stuff you buy and trade on here is from NZ distributors and suppliers is it? Seems odd that all that stren and your softbaits pop up when NZ $ is trading hot against the US $. A bit of a case of the pot calling the kettle black,,perhaps you should lay off it a bit.

I did apologize for my mistake, sincerely. I assumed that this was the Biomaster that has been available for years, which is a low geared Stradic. But you know when people assume it makes an ASS out of U & ME.

Perhaps Shimano might like to think of naming their SW models something different other than Twinpower, Biomaster etc. there is a big difference between the reels. Shimano have a huge plethora of spin reels that that are available to different markets, and the name points, the class and caliber of the reels is blurred. All fishing forums around the globe are full of confused questions and discussions around such.

The Biomaster 8000SW seems to be about $US390 online - add postage and it's not much different here at $590. Shimano gear is fairly priced here I think, if you shop around.

I see the point re local businesses but pre-internet prices were horrendous here.

There's some balance now I think. And you have to factor in warranties, service and peace of mind, of course.

Anyway, how's the Biomaster 8000 stack up against the Saragosa? And is the Stradic 8000 up to poppers and jigging?
