I thought that for the money you cannot get a better reel. How the company can make a reel of this quality at the price they sell is quite amazing. The free spool is very, very good.

Nevertheless, it has its minor idiosyncrasies. The drag lever slips to free spool at the lower settings and the drag could be beefier to handle the real biggies. The handle arm is a tad too short for jigging. Then again the reel wasn't designed as a straight out jigging reel like the Blue Heaven or Ocea Jigger. It was designed to be more of a general purpose reel not unlike the Accurate 665. With some minor modifications it would make a very good jigging reel, again, not unlike the Accurate 665.

Yeah exactly right Matt.
PG are improving the reels with a different drag cam which will avoid accidental free spool.  With all these improvements and signs of life from the company, I don't think the upgrade drag will be too far away.  JM make a longer power arm for the OC30, I have a few coming over soon so PM me if interested.
give it death!
