Have you guys found that in certain situations stickbaits are more effective than poppers, or vice versa? Personally I have had a bit more success with poppers but haven't really done a great deal of either (mostly live-baiting when the opportunity arises) just wondering what your opinions are...?

I think it depends on the situation - I know that sometimes ( and in some places) the splashing noise of the Popper on the retrieve can stir the Kings up & can be more likely to entice a bite. Having said that Good quality Stickbaits can also be very effective at times....so my answer - both.

Yeah have also noticed a larger heavier popper works better if the water has a chop on it, but then if the surface is flat I prefer a stick bait . Just my theory.. But also you may find that ur rod may determine which lure works best. I have a offshore illusion 37kg which probably works marginally better on the heavier popper than stick baits.

From what I have seen stick baits will put fish poppers at a ratio of about 10 to 1 this has been tested on a few days where the fish were going crazy and you would expect them to eat anything but stick baits the clear winner at those times.
I am sure there are days when poppers would be the number one but from what I've seen stick baits clearly ahead. Give it a couple more seasons and they may shy off the stick baits and poppers could come into their own a bit more.
Strikes on poppers are so much cooler though!!!
