where I am currently living GT is referred to as white fish and used extensively to make ' Namas' which is a raw fish dish.

The GT flesh is nothing like silver Trevs in NZ, for a start the GT's are apart from Sharks the apex predator here sorta like Snapper, eat everything. Its less dense than the NZ flesh, and much whiter as opposed to the opaque flesh of Silver Trevs.  The smaller ones are good chewing and cook up well. The bigger ones are.......not as nice, but still get eaten, with nothing wasted.

Interestingly I asked the medical super here about incidence of Ciguterria, and he has never seen or heard of a case of it, considering how much people rely on fish as a staple protein source and its all coral reefs i would a thought it was an issue? He does not know why it doesnt seem to occur here, other than perhaps " antidotal evidence' that the current running at upto 6 knots sweeps everything through pretty quickly and the algae does not have time to accumulate to a infectious level.

Coral trout, Barracoudda, Spanish Macks, sweet lips, red throat emporer, jew fish Nanagai are all eaten in large quantities with out incident?
