Back to real basics this pm when junior wanted to try his baitcatcher out at the wharf. We got a few that were released. I observed a few piper amongst the patchy sprat schools and I am sure a good sized Dory was making a nuiscance of itself under the baitcatcher.
I first moved to Auckland about 25 years ago and as a lad spent countless hours fishing off this wharf. Sprats , spotties, piper , the odd kahawai, odd decent snapper, yellowtail , large slimey mackeral were all caught. Even kingfish would show up from time to time (lost one around the end pile of course). I am sure the fish are still there too.
