What I mean is that I've had my Mudgway for less than a year (the trailer carries my Frewza 4.1) and despite washing it down after every use I went through the first set of bearings after 4 months. Ok, I thought, install Bearing Buddies, as I should have done, which I did. Now after 7 months the hubs are rusting quite badly.
 
 
 
So more remedial action taken, clean down hubs with wire brush and rust solution, spray with CRC Zinc It.
 
 
I honestly wouldn't expect this from a manufacturer (e.g. our Voyager trailer shows no signs of corrosion around hubs after 15 years) - true, it wasn't the most expensive trailer out there but still, from new surely this shouldn't happen?
 
Or could it be that they have different grades of components depending on price? Keen to see if this is an isolated incident.

Mate, I had one of those trailers for 3 yrs on my previous boat, never had a problem. Get one of those salt away sprayers that plug into a cigarette lighter, takes a minute to spray it down when you launch your boat (money well spent).
Love fishing, love my job. It's a bloody shame that they clash.

Hubs are cast steel and are rarely coated, a bit of surface rust is usual

Thats bugger all rust dude. it's normal for it to do that. use por15 on it to really make it rust free

I have a new Voyager trailer, as of December last year. It too has surface rust on the hubs. Trailer gets washed down every time. Not worried, just spray with inox every time

Try coating them with lanocote its a crc product that comes in grease like form.
I coat my whole trailer with this looks horrible but works a treat against corrosion.
ps give it a a month or 2 before you walk down your trailer (sticks like sh#t to a blanket)Wink

 trailer manufacturers only build the chassis, the hardware, springs, couplings hubs etc are off the shelf items, most are hot dipped too.
Fisholene is another product that is good, spray it on the hubs and let it dry for a few weeks..
