My old faithful Twinpower 10000sw recently got nicked and I'm in need of a replacement for the summer. Of course i'd love to get a new saltiga/stella but I just don't have the cash.

The options seem to be:

Shimano Saragosa 14000XG

  • Gear ratio: 6.2:1
  • Weight: 710 g
  • Retrieve rate: 135cm
  • Max Drag  15kg
  • approx $449

Simnao twinpower 14000XG

  • Gear ratio: 6.2:1
  • Weight: 649
  • Retrieve rate: 134cm
  • Max Drag 25kg
  • $749

PENN Slammer III 6500HS Spinning Reel
  • Gear ratio: 6.2:1
  • Weight: 700 g
  • Retrieve rate: 48" 122cm
  • Max Drag lb 40lb | 18.1kg
  • approx $360
There also looks to be a new Daiwa BG series coming out

DAiwa MQ 1400H
  • Gear ratio: 5:7
  • Weight: 640 g
  • Retrieve rate:  122cm
  • Max Drag  15kg 0r 20kg? Seems to vary between website. Unsure on price

Anyone have any experience/thoughts on the above reels? Any other options out there?

Only other reels I can think of is if Daiwa are doing a 2021 Catalina to go with this year's Saltiga

$749 is pretty sharp for the twin power, otherwise the new saragosa would be fine and you wouldn't have to 'baby' it on the rocks Big smile
