Breaking news about fatalities on bar this afternoon. 2 drowned; 2 rescued after hours in the water. Very sad.

2 drowned 3 rescued according to latest update - they were crossing bar at about 1330 today Mon in a 5M boat from Onehunga - low was about 1030 and wind against tide as a breezy NE down channel. A passing boat saw people who had been in water about 2 hrs at 1530 while crossing bar.
Good fishing trip nothing breaks, great trip catch fish.

I came back in at exactly 13:30 in South Channel, didn't see any boat or people in water, its sad news.

There's a 3 day Rahui (tapu) on the Manukau harbour - I have cancelled a trip Tuesday will not go out till Friday if weather permits, out of respect for the deceased.
Good fishing trip nothing breaks, great trip catch fish.

Me too about the same time and it was an easy crossing until you met the harbour channel near destruction gully when it got choppy.

In respect there are people killed on the roads threw out n.z without them being closed for respect, in a holiday period with excellent conditions take advantage of a safe time to enjoy the west , the Rahui would be better served as a three day bay crossing corse. A sad lose to the family's respect the west.

Good point about roads - I drive past accidents sites to.

Because I boat here in Manukau harbour it is different for me - I just don't feel like going out and would not be supported by local community I fish for. I do ask you to be careful anytime you go out in the murky.

A few sneakers on the Raglan bar at midday, completely unexpected, could see how the unwary could be caught out. Bad luck for the inexperienced. take care on the west coast.
Cant beat hunting and Fishing in N.Z
