Ugly Stik Bluewater 24kg model O/H rod it is perfect for the yak livebaiting. Reel anything from a 16 sized star drag Torium/Saltist/Trini/Saltiga with 8olb braid or a lever drag type TLD15 does the job for me.
 
Was thinking about going to back to spin but overhead is much easier on the yak.

Well got the reel sorted, shimano telica 8 two speed, still looking for the ideal rod to match it,

Jigging rods make good live bait rods. They are short (5ft ish) which suits a yak. I'm not really au fait with the Talica, but I'd be checking out 250grm or thereabouts jig rods.

IMO to long. Much better off with a shorter rod.
