Wondering if im using a decent knot for joining my fluro traces/leaders to mono mainline.
Im straylining for snapper and typically use 8 or 10kg mono main and a 30 0r 40lb fluro trace and currently join using a simple double uni knot.
Use a spinning reel and do notice the knot running through the guides.
Any tips and help appreciated.

No name or lethal knot. All I ever use for nylon to nylon joins and doubt need to tie any doubles etc.

Simple strong knot that is really easy to tie

Is the heavier trace the blue line in this case or doesn't it matter?
Also can you cut the tag ends really close without any worries?

Yeah blue is ya leader / trace. I usually cut tag ends pretty close. Havent had any issues

Dont have to tie a double with the mainline either, can just loop it to tie the knot.

Hey JK, or others, Just rigging this up now, do you tie off the mainline loop if you aren't tying a double?

I didn't and it pulled throughConfused or do I need to really pull on the leader tag to set it first?

ok mate forget about wrapping the line around and pulling it up, try this.

dont tie the trace to the main line, do it the other way round mainline to trace, you dont need a double as you have mentioned a false one works well,

now poke the mainline through the folded/ or doubled over trace line, now wrap around the doubled over trace about 6 to 7 times winding up the trace towards the hook, now poke the tag end of the mainline back though the entry hole you started it at, wet it out and nip it up, cut the tag ends short i use this knot for every thing including game fishing and to be fair it awesome, this knot has been used by me personally for many years i used it when i had the albright fail on me on a good fish and played around with a couple of other guys to get what we feel is a great knot

Cheers BA, but I managed to get it this time, not sure what I didn't do the 1st time, but this one isn't slipping at all - will keep your knot in mind though.
