Is Nathan Guy for real?

An estimated 530 dolphins have been killed by trawlers under the National Government’s watch, yet the Minister seems reluctant to do anything about it. Dolphins need protection Minister, just as seabirds do.

You know 20 years ago I would of agreed.

I am basically a Canterbury salmon fisherman who also used to be a trout fisherman and when i look at what we have lost and  the destruction that has been caused by a " production at any cost " mentality I am not so sure.

Where I used to bike to camp and fly fish as a kid well now there are signs saying no swimming which is rather ironic as there is usually no water there.

EVERY lowland stream in Canterbury has been degraded to the point where there is either no fishery or it is but a shadow of its former self. The major snow fed rivers ALL have been modified for irrigation or they have plans for irrigation;.

Google Canterbury ground water and see what you come up with ?

ECAN is our hope of change... apart from the Govt took all our voting rights away and appointed commissioners to make sure all these irrigation schemes go ahead.

A mate who was in F and G said something that is really worth thinking about. In our high country we have some of the most pristine water in the world... send it 50 miles east [without going through any towns] and we turn it into Lake Ellesmere... NZs most polluted lake.

So if I want to try and change this for my grandchildren and great grand children which political party is going to start this process ?

Was recently reading a similar thought line.

I would like to see a government that said." We are going to stop this ridiculous obsession with economic growth at the cost of everything else. "The strip mining of everything we have that is precious, like clean water ,abundant fisheries and much more.Great economic success dosent produce national happiness. It produces the National party,The labour party and MPI.
Time to focus on being a pleasant ,lovely and civilized country.
And i suspect that when we are able to do that we will see a real growth in prosperity.

Humans now-a-days judge success by the gathering of items and the amount of $ they an acrue. The ablity to have a simple life and live in a modest house near the sea side and feed your family from he fruits of our land and sea have been replaced by the mighty $.

Unfortunately I don't know if there's even an option anymore to be able to return back to what Kiwis have always held dear and close to there hearts.

Don't be fooled into thinking the greens have any higher moral life standards than any other party, at the end of the day they like the rest are political parasites that will say what they think you want to hear. I have little faith in any politician anymore having seen all of them point fingers and blame the next guy when they themselves have had the opportunity to change things and have also failed to do so.

Labor pushes this green card but with the greens in power wanted to raise our population to 10 million... it would devastate the country as we have all known it just to have a self sustainable economy.. It's a catch 22. we want and need money but in the same sentence lots of us value our environment over the needs of money.... Or do we?

Do you realise that is a number 'estimated' by activist researchers?

The number of known captures is much lower.
