Far cry to the twats at Liegasea/NZSFC were proposing of 5 Tarakihi person in their submission for the central management area and this is what our club gets for paying NZSFC 80K/year in affiliation fees. 
While I don’t have any problems with taking any cuts, I do however feel that with commercial taking a 20% cut then recreational should have taken a similar cut and not 50% for this area. Had FNZ set the limit a 15/person then one could say a recreational cut was in line with commercial. Commercial have been given an increase in Trevally & Snapper quota for the area but no mention of a recreational  increase, its all about balance.

Yes the announcement by the Fisheries Minister in late 2025 certainly blindsided a few of the pros.
Whilst Legasea may have its flaws the big plus is that it is not linked to government and therefore independent.  Recfish WA is the body that represents the recreational fishing sector here in WA.  98% of Recfish WA funding comes from the WA Government and accordingly it is nothing more than a mouthpiece for the Government while under the guise of being independent.
The following is an example of how the recs were treated a few years ago.
The Western Rock Lobster TAC was split 97% comm; 3% rec.  6,500t vs 195t per annum.  New regulations came into effect and the rec allowable catch per day was reduced by 12.5%.

But reality is maybe 4 from legasea and the NZSFC     .Rather than asking what fishos want they blindly go ahead with their own ideas and get supporters to copy n paste submission.       Legasea dont represent me and I havent supported them since 2018 over the Sea Change policy. " Oh we dont agree but hand to sign" B/S you dont agree you dont sign simple and you can thank them in a way for HPA/SPA areas while the comms through grandfather clauses can keep fishing.   Several articles on their F/B are totally false information. The Minister keeps getting called names and from some comments on their page"wish the fat c$%t would die"  The fisheries bill will be back and it wont kind to reccs I can tell you!

Smudge while I agree with the concept of Legasea and initially did support them as I did for the NZSFC but I with drew my support for both about 10 years ago when their ideology turned into nothing more than being an anti commercial organisation. 
Legasea comms team don’t engage with their posts, rather they load the gun and allow their misguided supporters fire it and when anyone commercial or otherwise tries to comment or dispute their post they have their comments deleted or in many cases they are either banned or blocked from their page, so much for engagement. Lately the vitriol being levelled at Shane Jones is absolutely disgusting and Legaseas comms team are happy to allow such comments without any censuring from them.
