Sorry if this has been brought up before, did a quick search but couldn't find anything.
 
Does anyone use barbless singles on their topwater baits? Am fishing some very evil water and get pinged a bit. Lost a popper to a big feller recently, and hate to think of him wearing it because the hooks won't come out.
Am running baker rigged hoodlums on most belly hooks, with a single on the tail.
 
Any thoughts appreciated. I guess the danger time would be if I tried to freespool it out of a snag and it shakes its head.
 
This is another hook setup I've used: two single jig hooks. Did the trick on Sunday on this one, just a baby 81cm.

My Question is why not just run one assist? Do you find most of your fish hooked up primarily on the first hook like in your photo? 
Does the weight of the hooks (stick baits) have any influence on action?

have used a owner jobu on the tail of poppers for a few years now, crush the barb and all good to go, some stick baits will swim well with this too.Assist rigs work good too of the front, free swinging and it gets sucked in to there mouths much like a jig set up.

Yeah mate, I'll be rigging assists this weekend when I can get to the shop for some kevlar cord. Don't actually use any stickies at the moment, just a range of daggy old cotton cordells and other bits and pieces.

Not sure if I'll take the tail hook off. Sounds like a good idea. Will possibly add a small octopus skirt to the back lug to create drag and balance it up.
