Hi all,

I'm looking at getting a JM Ocean Devil 7ft3 PE 2-5 for my 5000 Stella, but thinking of getting a rod a bit longer so any rods that are 8-9 foot and rated PE 3-4 I am interested in, let me know what you have if thinking of selling or have any recommendations on a suitable rod. Rod will be used off the rocks.

Thanks

Possibly a bit nice for rock fishing, however it fits your specs apart from costing slightly more.

I have the long handle 7 foot PE 3 rod and it is very nice to use with plenty of grunt, whilst having the abillity top cast light lures a treat.

Zenaq really are very nice rods, that havent gained as much market traction  as some more popular manufacturers

Yeah, no doubt it's a good rod. But, I spent the majority of my budget for a topwater set on the reel so have to look at cheaper options for rods if that is possible and still get quality. Be great if the OD was just one foot longer!

Looks like the specs are ok, I would imagine its a slim blank that is parabolic and bends through the butt to pull that kind of strength (more like a strong surfcaster than a stickbait rod) so you could fish it to the rated specs however it will be a different action to a stick bait rod.

I think it would be worth going to Go Fish and asking Greg about what he's got -

I picked this rod up yesterday, feels like a quality rod..

There are some shore jigging rods on JP - a little bit long 9'6" but up to PE 3.5 / 4

Hi Fishthat.

I am willing to sell for $1,100 my as new Carpenter Blue Chaser 84/18 PE 4-6 top-water rod I bought from Yeehaa for $1,450. It's unmarked, and has only been used twice. Can't buy a better rod, but it's not inexpensive I know.

Let me know if you're interested. You can view the model on www.yeehaa.co.nz. I have pics I could add to this post if I knew how to do that.

It's a two piece rod.

Cheers.

I bought mine over the phone from fullon fishing. Top catch guy once told me that model doesn't exist. They had the 7ft 24kg though.

edit: should clarify, the 8ft does exist, I have 2. There is about 8 or 9 different troppos now. A couple of shops stocking finnor told me they couldn't order them though. Seemed strange, so I just went back to fullon for the second one.
