New Studio Ocean Marks Premium Hook Ocean Twin, an alternative to trebles
Explanation from Kazuyoshi-san SOM Pro Staff

This is SOM pro-staff member, Kazuyoshi Sugio.

I would like to explain to all of you about the merits of SOM's newly released 《Ocean Twin Hooks BBS88》.

In my eyes, the primary merit of these hooks has got to be that they hold with the same power as a single hook, but offer a hook-up ratio similar to a set of trebles.

Another merit has got to be the slim profile. While casting, these hooks stay closer to the lures body allowing for maximum casting performance.《less wind resistance than treblehooks》.

...and last but not least! These smaller sized hooks work perfect for a wider variety of gamefish! From Yellowfin Tuna 〜Bull Mahi these hooks reign supreme!

Thanks for taking the time to read my rants! I hope that my views will help you with your decision on your next hook purchase!

Best Regards! Sugio

Never really been a fan of double hooks. I have issues with loose twin hooks laying flat against the side of the lure on the bite. Seen way to many fish lost with anglers using the baker rig or loose doubles that would have been a text book hook up with trebles.
I have even seen where double hook set ups have pressed hook marks into the side of a lure on hard biting fish like GT and the hook never set as it was laying flat against the lures.
I got told a good lesson once from a very good angler while fishing overseas "you spent a **** load of money to get here, you spent all your hard earned cash on high quality tackle and now your going to limit your chances by using a hook that you know is not as good as a treble. What the **** is wrong with you?"
Stellamoon are you going to be using these? be great to get some feed back of what they set like after using them for a while.

Been speaking to the SOM boys who rate these hooks highly, and who have ensured me that the hook up rate is to be as good as a treble. Guess I won't really know till I give them a try.

Sure Tony, I'll let you know how they run. Have a few packets on their way from Japan.

Ive used the largest size, hey are good looking hooks and well set up for stickbaits.

Mustad do a good hook too, and so does decoy etc.The som ones have these little rings on them which make them prob best I've seen, but not sure they are worth he extra $ personally.

I always tell the truth about things that never happened

Awesome hooks Pete, don't notice any difference in hook up rates compared to trebles. Also less damage to the lures from hook rash. And as you probably already can see SOM are using strong thick gauged Vanfook hooks.
Highly recommend them.... especially if your fishing off Enchanter, Cova Rose, or any of the Whakatane boats that don't allow trebles.

Interesting......Personally i like the shout single assists(plenty of free movement)........the ones with a short assist cord designed for lures.......not the power assist ones that are used for jigging.....with two hooks close together of the same length  like that....i dont really see the advantage.......especially on fish that suck in their prey...like kings and Gt's..............will be interested to here what you think Pete..........
But its great having all these new products coming out and giving us all more options.....
Id like to see barbless inline hooks with a welded eye......does anyone do them?
