Just had a look at Alan Hawks site. He has taken off Saltigas off his top list due to servicing issues.

Heavy. Although I own Catalina 5000H and Saltiga 5000 I wholeheartedly agree with Alan's act of judgement

Yes. He makes it quite clear in the reviews etc. But many people just look at the lists.

Yeah its a shame really. Don't why Daiwa just don't give up the oil for self servicing? 

But in saying that I had a part go off on my bailarm on my Certate nothing to do with magseal or anything still took the best part of 2 months to get the right part. Compared to Shimano NZ its well below par service.

 Plat have a lot of bearings now for self service. you just need to know bearing innner / outer dia and thickness
