Hey guys, im looking at getting a Stradic 8000 or 6000 for casting stickbaits/poppers on pe5 braid. The specs are mostly the same but im unsure which one would be best. Also i need a rod in the $400- 500 range so if anyones got any ideas it would be great to hear from you. Many thanks

Mate may as well go the 8000 as its slightly lighter than the 6000 and has more capacity!
Ive got the 5000 and like it alot.

CD have a couple of nice rods out at the moment as well.

Stradic 6000 is not available in NZ, but the 8000 is the go.

hi camdog, have a good look at the offshore illusion 150/200 popper rod i have a couple of these and am extremely happy with them and exelent price as well, cheers.

hi camdog, i bought mine at warren hay marine in whangrei paid $440 and am extremely happy not sure who carries them in auckland but surethere will a few.

camdog, forgot to mention rod is rated 24kg to 37kg. hope that helps.

PE5 is equivalent to 60-70lb braid(depending on braid manufacturer) so all good fishiThumbs Up Offshore makes nice rods but havent tried the popping models. seems like a good price too.

What about a VAN STAAL 802 2 Piece Giant Trevally Popper Rod, theres one on trademe for $350. Or would a OTI popper rod be better for $399 from smart marine??

Yeah I wouldn't go too heavy on a long rod for kings personally, more fun letting it run a bit on a 8000 reel, more fun and saves your back.

Reel:get the 8000 its lighter and has a bigger capacity then the 6000.managed to fit on 200m of 80lb whiplash on mine.

Rod:dont no if you want to spend a bit more money and get the shimano caranx kaibutsu long cast whitch is a PE6-8.They are $640 but can whip out a popper and stickbait far enough.
I use these two as a combo for stickbaiting and popping off the rocksfor kings .Does the job well

 the pencil instrument is rated pe5 shimano caranx kaibutsu and more than capable of doing the job, works SB's awesome and has a little more bend in it than the heavier model, my prefered choice would be the lighter model.
