How much speed do you need to get these things moving?  Am thinking of using them in another fashion?

I wouldn't tow the tail weighted stick baits around but the Nomad crew have quite a bit of success towing stick baits around , I think the stick baits with the weight up front tow better.

yip the Bobara is a good one to troll, the Gamma if trolled probably needs to be worked a bit ,ie rod not in the holder but in your hands stroking it a tad.

I showed my Old man the clip to show him what stick-baiting is.

Hes purely a fishing for food type and already disgusted by the price of the lures.

Half way through the clip.........

Dad -"couldn't you just put floats on those lures you already have?"

ME- "what lures?"

Dad -"arrrrrrrrr?"

ME- "you mean my jigs????"

Dad "yeh those ones"

ME "LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL"

He wonders why I don't like going fishing with him.

Unbelievable action on those Gammas... cheers for that link Falco!~

In fact most of your good stickbaits ( DarkStar/Nomad/Heru, Baby Runboh's, Voladors, Deltas etc ) have a truly incredible action, and really need to be seen to be believed...
The DarkStar Ulua/Wahoo/Boparas, even on just a dead straight steady retrieve have an incredible action with very little if any effort from the angler....
And they are  ALOT easier on the body than huge Chuggers, thats for sure!

If you looking to troll Stickies, definitely check out the Ulua and Bopara from DarkSTar/Heru/Nomad... Billfish and Wahoo are VERY fond of them...

Here is a shot of a wahoo taking a liking to a Bopara being trolled....

Too right Cam, oldskool is where its at bro!! Clap

Guys I should have noted that the pic is not mine, was posted on a US forum by a French member I believe, and I "right click" - "save image" 'd it... I would credit the photog if I knew who it was, but thought y'all would enjoy it... I believe it was taken on one of Nomad's trips...

I read a couple of Nomad's reports a while back where they hit an absolutely insane amount of Wahoo's, getting upwards of 50 per boat per session, all on stickbaits... apparently these 'Hoo's were wolf packing the lures, and they had up to 8 fish attacking the lure at once, just a few metres off the transom...  Must be pretty damn epic to hit conditions like that with 'Hoo's to 40 kilos drilling your stickies all day long...

EDIT - Just checked the report again ( Wreck Reef, August 2006 ) and they caught 250 Wahoo in 2.5 days..... Shocked
They had one 40 kilo fish skyrocket the stickie and crash head first into the Outboard cowling, thats how close and loose they were!!!!

Anyone who has watched kingis chase Mac's,squid and particularly flying fish will appreciate the likeness of a fleeing baitfish.

I just keep going back to this link and cnat help watching it again and again.
I have been pretty much doing top water only trips for the last few months and every day i get asked the best way to work the lures. This link is worth studying hard and wathcing over and over to give you a good idea at what to do, especially watch what the rod is doing durng the sweep. Konishi does make it look easy but the guy is the best going around at this caper
