Mustad Fastach clips for stickbaiting

What are peoples thoughts for using a 72KG (130lb) mustad Fastach swivel to quickly swap out stickbaits?

Is it strong enough?

Been using solid rings (330lb?), but they dont lend to rigging a lure quickly when the bite is on and the rod is bare.

Appreciate anyones thoughts.

solid ring tied to the end of the leader, then a split ring to go between the solid ring and the lure.  should take 30 seconds MAX to change (you need to have split ring pliers obviously)

Thats kind of what I have at moment, using jigstar swivel grommets attached to leader and a split ring onto the lures - yes have split ring pliers

Just got caught short the other day with no lure attached and what should have been a 30 second job to attach and cast to a bunch of kings busting past turned into a frustrating 120 seconds fumbling attempt and missing out on the action Cry

Maybe its better to be prepared and not leave a rod without something ready to go.

Try the SOM Ocean snap splits..work well, I haven't had any open up..

Yep.......i used to have mine set up and standing in one of those nacsan rod holders .......in a safe spot out of the wind and away from my gear......ready to go.
I always used an NT swivel 1/0 with a 9 or 10mm decoy heavy duty split ring.......these are great.......much better than owners....a little harder to open but spring back into place real nice....very strong.......nothing needs to be said about NT swivels....Uni to the swivel(smooth ring).......most solid rings would need line protection.Wink
Why are you using 330 pound solid rings? when you would struggle to hang onto 15kg of drag off the bricks?..........Hope i have helped you a bitBig smile

I like the look of the mustard fastach, would save hook rash on the rod as well when the water gets a bit rough. Where do you buy them?

Sailors corner, top catch have the mustad ones, probably the other shops too. Problem is they only go to 72kg, maybe too light?

Found quick tec at GoFish which look 150kg

They look strong enough, but no swivel action

Laidbackdood says to use number 1 nt swivel, which are at GoFish

But they are 61kg? So maybe it is enough? I would trust laidbackdood, and he makes sense about why do you need 330lb rings on 15kg drag, if that at all. 15kg drag would probably pull you over the side, 5-10kg is more than enough drag.

#1 is 189kg and 1/0 is 212kg in the nt swivel...
