Hey guys

I’m moving to pokeno in a month and want to get into a bit of top water so I’ll be hitting either port Waikato or Kawakawa bay. I’ve never top water fished before and just want to know where I could go or what type of research I could do to get into some spots. What would I need to look for regarding a spot like tides, current etc. what do you guys do before hitting a area?

Thanks
