I've been to New Zealand a couple of times and I need to go again around next November. I have never been fishing there and I want to go fishing a couple of times. Deep sea fishing is what I do but I might also look at some lake or stream fishing.

I'm interested in recommendations like where is the best place to go ocean fishing, and sharing charters, etc... I'll be somewhat close to Wellington but I have a couple of weeks so if it's better in the south island I can go there. Or if Auckland is better I can go up there also.

If you know of any good guides or operations that can fit in a single person for ocean fishing please let me know.
Thanks.

I guess it mostly depends on what you are interested in. November is too early for gamefishing but there are other deep water options such as bass, bluenose and hapuku typically caught bottom fishing in 200m plus - I don't do much of that but I'm guessing November would be ok. Snapper fishing at that time of year is very good in up to 60m especially in the Hauraki Gulf or the North Islands west coast.

Yellowtail kingfish are a fantastic fish to target and there are a number of charters that cater for small groups from Tairua to Northland.

Try our Freshwater forum for advice on lakes and rivers. There are plenty of good guides but I don't have any contacts.
