Just trying to figure out what the hell all this means

4815 = ???
F = ??? (fast action)??

And how does this compare to the JM Rods available here?

Murf,

Shimano Ocea Blue Rose rods come in some powerful configurations such as the S60MD which is rated for PE10 and the S4815F you mention, which is rated for PE8. They're considered a quality mid level rod. Not in the same league as the JM Power Spell - however they have some nice features and the ones I've seen are well finished.

This an explanation of an Ocea Blue Rose rod number.

Therefore, as you can see, the S4815F is a spinning model, 4'8" in length, fast action, designed for 15 oz jigs.

CONFIDENCE: The feeling you have before fully understanding the situation.

These are Shimano's top end jig rods. most are 100% graphite and have reputations for being too stiff and awkward to mechanical jig.  Some models have not faired well and have become multi-piece rods.  They are expensive hence desireable to many. Maybe DJ will bring in some later.

give it death!

They're not as expensive as a top of the line Smith, Fisherman, Sevenseas etc. However if you tried to import a Blue Rose they would end up costing about $700-800 which is ridiculous when you can get a JM Terminator or Power Spell for considerably less.

Bite the bullet murf and get yourself a decent jigging rod i.e. a JM. You'd never regret it.

Yeah, get a JM. For the price, I don't see any added advantages of a Blue Rose, except maybe the textured grips on the handles and extra bling factor from the girly rose designs on the blankLOL. They are not indestructible, as I've seen one break (angler's fault) before my very eyes. You could probably still customise a JM blank for less.
