After a lot of looking and advice from the KKK(Kapti Kingi Kings .Jimijig & Torsa.).Got a 200grm T Curve Deep jig and I am impressed with the power, not only me but the 2 friends I have had out and managed to get into fish.
Had a small hitch though when onto a good kingi one of the lugs on the gimble fitting broke.
Buggar.Cry
Took it into Alicetown Hunting and Fishing and the guys were great one phone call and out I walked with a new rod.Tongue
Great rods and great service. what more can a a person ask for.
Thanks guys

That's excellent service. I can also say the same for Rebel Sports in Rotorua who sent back my broken Bolle' poloroids to the importer who replaced them which is bloody good service too. As they cost over $200 I was rapt. "Bolle' all the way".  Thumbs%20Up

Just when I thought it was a fluke !!
these guys were introduced to jiggs only today, never tried it not even once, we slipped out of port a little after 0400, sea conditions were great, barring a nagging northerly chop of about a meter and a half, my tinny performs great into anything but a head sea, we dropped our first lot of gear a little after 0-600. bites were again immediate (funny that) the sgn looked more promising up high which is not unusual for bluenose. I was drifting 2 sets on baits and 2 on jiggs, the baits loaded immediately with bluenose to about 12k, then bang 40 meters up, the jigg got smoked and did this fish rip line, unbelievable !!
long  story short, the hen was large

These fat pigs are awesome on the jigg, this one was one of a nuber of good fish landd today, congrats to our punters  they did the tough yards s re good though

Congratulations Lionel.  Looks like you have just pioneered a new jig fishery!  Keep this up and no one will be taking out the smelly bait!  A horse of a Bluenose!

BTW, how deep were you jigging?
give it death!

Hi Chris,
most of the bluenose grounds are around 270- 350 m deep, I have found a number of shallower spots that I hold close to my chest, and they all produce very big bluenose, the one in the picture is around 32-34k our biggest this season and caught on a jig 40 meters up, I also put down a 670g jig a green one that was getting hit but not hooking up, I am excited about the coming months as the season gets into full swing, bluenose are great fighting fish, and on the jig are even better , possibly because they are already higher in the water column. As I mentioned in the earlier post, the bait was going very well also so it will more than likely always be available on our boat, some people just prefer it. As for me I am thinking of having another prospect shot myself 2morro. Wink
by the way the guy standing next to the fish, is around 6ft.2 and 130k makes me look small trying to hoist is fish up

OTB-do Bluenose fight all the way up or give up after the initial tussle? 350M is some line towrap back on the spool in its own right let alone fighting a fish.

Hi There Burwood Bluenose fight all the way to the top unlike Puka and Bass which tend to blow after the first 100 meters not always but most times.

Keep talking OTB you have nearly got me hooked on a Bluenose jig session but give it another week and my new T-rex could be in for a testing session.
With a nasty smelly bait or two not a reel for jigging more of a power winchWink

But the H-X would do for a jig or two. You using your boat or the cat for these trips??

Hi Graham,
only using my boat for these trips it just drifts way better, I don't have an issue with smelly baits and would be wrapped to take you for a shot in Memorymaker, they are biting well at present and this should continue right through till at least the end of May, had a nice marlin in the gear yesterday on the way back, trolling andromedas at high speed, I'm going for another shot tommorow this time the beak better stick LOL
