That's a hell of a drag for those reels... What rods are you guys running bx400s on with 15-18kg of drag?

Maybe i will recheck my drag . because i have the sunset drag lever, i tend to work backwards. my sunset is about 12kg set so i know i can go to max without breaking the rod or line unless i did something silly like high stick it. i take the lever to strike which i thought was about 9kg, but can push it right through if needed

I have not had the sunset mod done on mine.  Gives me piece of mind that not much can go wrong unless its pushed past the button, especially when other people are using my set.
Daveo, my drag is usually set between 9 and 10kg at strike which is where is stays most of the time, I push it past strike only when very nervous of being wrapped round a rock on the bottom (rod under arm!).  Never had to push it right to sunset but then again havnt had any horses on it either.  My rod is a Synit Seriola so should be up to those drag settings.

Ive never broken 80lb or 150lb leader ever no matter how much drag ive put on it. If you tie a good pr knot its close to 100% strength. Your a better man than me if you break it by applying to much drag. Ive seen a jig stuck on the bottom and 80LB was tied to the bollard to try and break it. I was really surprised to see the ammount of pressure it took before it let go. The knot broke on the solid ring. I believe with lighter setups you need to be more cautious but 80 just set to what you think you can hold on to. Lol
