Hey fellas thinking of splashing out on 8k swpg old model & have an Xzoga SA 350 upto PE8. What's you guys thoughts on Xzoga rod v's MC Works or JM etc. if I'm gonna go to the 8k Stella do I need to rethink the rod. Haven't done much with this rod but have fished heaps with the Taka BA 350 (same blank but overhead)but only landed fish upto 25kg. Do I stick with the Xzoga or get my wallet out??

stick with what you got and spend the $'s on more jigging trips.  Tempted to tell you to buy a new JM though.

Well Chris if anyone would know it would be you m8. When I check out the Xzoga vs other considerably more expensive blanks A part of me wants to look at JM or similar but then sometimes ya just need to be happy with what you already have. Xzoga is still capable of upto 15kg max drag, is PE 5-8, just don't know how it will go on a really big model. As stated earlier I have both spin & overhead & only landed upto 18kg on the spin & 25kg on the overhead. So in the back of my mind just don't know how either will work with a 40kg plus king! Guess I just need to get the Stella stick it on the rod & go get one!!

i have a number of them and can say I loaded up one on a marlin where no line would come off the reel apparently 62lb of drag and it was all good ended up breaking another same thing but this time the 80 braid tip wrapped,
so yip I like them but then it was what I could afford to have made and they have all proven themselves

I've a xzoga rod made by Matt using taka-G 58 blank. I love them and they are strong rods. The Stella 8000 will be a good match up.

Never seen many break! LOL Still see Shaun and he still has a few rods left great rods.

I broke a softbait version high sticking it and saw a broken jig rod there once. On both rods it was like someone had put a hacksaw through them the break was so clean and the crack was loud LOL

Hey Chris PE4? I was thinking PE6-8 but that's based on my assumptions such as line class on rod is 5-8. Why do you think PE4 mate?
Cheers

Because I only got about 260m of pe4 YGK Ultra on my 8000PG . Mind you it is an older model and you can probably get a little more on the SW model, but not that much more.

Aha I see your point Chris. What amount of PE6 could I expect to get on the sw8kpg? May look at a JM power spool or a sw10k spool as a backup or when I need greater capacity.

Well fellas made my move at last & got the lucky last 8kswpg from marine deals. Loaded it with 85lb diawa braid & took the PR plunge got a jig star bobbin & am pleasantly surprised just how easy it is to tie a PR. So happy days time to get a bend in my Xzoga spin.
