New to this whole thing so hopefully I have this post in the right place!

Wondering if anyone has used/ owns a jig star slow jerk rod? Can they work normal slow jigs like bottom ships/ lucanus aswell as slow pitch jigs? Looking at getting into a new slow jig rod and was looking at jm ocean devil xul but thought I might be able to get 2 rods in one with the slow jerk and abit cheaper at the same time.
Cheers

You mate, yep I've used my jigstar slow jerk 603-3 for slow pitch and sliders and have caught a few snapper, kings and Terakihi on it so far.

For slow pitch it's not quite as slow as some of the Japanese rods out there but value for money is very good!

Some nice fish there! Can you lift the rod much while fighting a fish or do you have to go quite easy on it?

I go pretty easy on it and mainly use the reel but I believe they are designed to use a bit of lift.

yes you can jam the butt into your guts and give it a lift as normal but do go easy for a start until you get familiar with the rod and pressure you are pulling.
This more powerful butt section means it will lose the softness and jig action that Japanese rods are known for.  These are contrasting design requirements but I plumped for more power for kiwi fish.
give it death!

Hey mate do you still have the slow jerk 603-4 on sale? Also looking for a lever drag to pair with it. Hoping to get something for this weekend.
Cheers,

Yeah 603-4 is available, Rod and Reel come to mind as carrying stock.
There are some very nice lever drag reels to match with it.  I'm using Maxel F30CH, a dynamite little reel that will land almost anything.  Look around for this reel as Maxel are in short supply.

Hey ChrisW, just a question about the slow jerk rods. Which model would be best suited to jerking 90 - 120+ gram jigs? Cheers.

Had one before I purchased a synit. Great rod for the price so light and plenty of grunt. Good for slow jigs too. Had it paired with a Trinidad 10
