Hi everyone, first timer looking for some advice.
Hubby and I are looking at a fishing holiday in the far north. We are looking for some relatively easy access as he broke both legs last year in a roofing accident so rock fishing is probably out. Not looking to set any records, just a nice spot to get a few snaps and Ky. Any suggestions, tips or advice would be greatfuly received. Many thanks 😊

Hi not sure how far you want to go but spirits bay is a awesome place to stay camp ground is big has cold showers and toilets and surfcasting is usually very productive off the beach if you walk up the beach towards Pandora you don't have to go all the way there and you don't walk along the beach there is a four wheel drive track behind the dunes you can't drive it but you can walk it's very easy, if he can handle a 20 minute walk it would help but can get fish all along the beach, kings snaps trevs ky and cause the beach drops you dont have to cast far ,and you have 90 mile not far and te hapua Wharf that can be fun back down the road you can fish off another wharf at paua or off the side of the road . You can just make out the track behind the dunes at spirits bay

If you head right up to the far north Spirits bay, Tapotupotu bay, and the wharves at Te Hapua and Paua on the Paerengarenga harbour are all easy access for surf casting.
Accomodation is a bit more limited up there as I hear Waitiki campground is shut down. There are doc campgrounds at spirits and Tapotuputo though. Or further south there's a campground at Hohoura. There are wharves and surfcasting in the harbour there too.

Or if you base yourselves on the Karikari peninsula you can try Puheke beach, Karikaribeach, Tokerau beach. Heaps of places on bookabach up there, or cabins etc a the Whatuwhiwhi top10. Also a Doc campground at Matai bay.

Would pay to give Waitiki a call because they were shut when we were up there 4 weeks ago.

Agree though, lots of easy options in far north that would be suitable.
