Hey guys,

Has there been any feedback or results with the new Tuffleye product that a few of you were going to order? This is the alternative product to the dreaded epoxy.

Be interested to hear results / disasters and how easy or difficult the stuff is to work with.

Thanks blokes.
Kev

I haven't got mine yet but am talking to the US distributors about stocking it here...

Initial reports from over the ditch is that the stuff is excellent to use though much more expensive than epoxy so for the commercial guys it may not cause much change.

For the private tier it should be just fine though if the expense is less important than the hassle.

This is the same stuff you can buy from surf shops to fix foam boogieboards and surfboards. I used it several years ago and it was pretty good for fast setting epoxyheads. The stuff you guy at the surf shop cures when you expose it to sunlight (UV) or you can create a UV torch - just buy a cheap LED torch and get a $2 UV LED from Dick Smith.

Save you a bit of dough if this stuff works the same as the Tuffleye stuff.

Arminius, take a bow mate Clap
Now to check if the stuff is available here in OZ.

Good info. I flagged using Tuffleye because it just isn't viable commercially and I'm tying a lot of epoxy flies these days. The Aussie guys using it for their personal use are raving about it though.

I don't think it is exactly the same stuff as the Tuffleye apparently is using a type of blue light, not UV... UV, apparently won't set Tuffleye. But that's neither here nor there... if the end result is the same.

I recall Bob Popovic saying there were issues with other similar products but mainly things like a greasy finish on the other stuff but I don't know that this is a big issue... would a Kingie care?

I think this is a great tip and I'm certainly going to try it. If nothing else the tip on cheap UV lights is a good one. Last one I saw they wanted about $30 for.
