Hi All,
I have recently been turning out a few nymphs etc for myself, tying is somthing I really enjoy, and somthing I havent done for maybe 10 years..and somthing I can see myself doing more of in the immeadiate future (while the B.O.P sorts itself out)
Anyway I have come to the realization that a rotary vice will help me tie better flys.(the penny dropped when I watched a youtube clip of a good tyer using one...,"ahh so thats how they do that!"

I have searched the forum but want to know if opinions have changed since 2009.

So any personal preferences or vices to avoid would be great, sub $200NZD would be preffered..also if anyone has one they dont want/use I would be open to suggestion.

Cheers Andrew

nOTHIONG IN THE PRICE RANGE YOU ARE AFTER... i LIKE THE rENZETTIS, dYNAkINGS AND mONGOOSE, (sorry about the caps)

But they don;t fit the budget. Someone else will have knowledge of something for you though. (BTW, was just out at Bowentown, everything looks Ok out there.

Thanks Clarke,
I should have stayed trolling the internet instead of tiki touring down to Murapara for the afternoon..they ahve had alot more rain than us here! on the up side I found an amazing spring that was gin clear, looks good but not sure if it is even open water or who's land it is I would need to cross.Worth investigation though.

Thanks for those names I have had a quick look just now,my heart re-started beating when I got to the bottom of the Renzetti Range - their "Apprentice" vise is affordable and probably a good enough product for me,just have to suss out which features are must have and which are not.

That wind stopped any oil arriving further east today, fingers crossed for the recovery remaining.

Thanks

I think we are going to get out of the rena better than we were lead to believe... fingers crossed.

Is the spring the one on the Eastern side of the lake heading towards Matahina? If so it has some fish in it.

I sure hope your right...I dont mind it becoming fishing/diving structure just the debri and muck that go's with it if they cant get it off in time.

Sounds like the same spring Clarke, as that is the general location.
I only saw it due to it being blue when the other surrounding waters were positivley brown.

Went over the hill yesterday to Putaruru for a nosey got a couple of small fish which was a buzz since it has been so long.
There is alot of local fishing this side, I have not yet looked at,going to be a great summer sussing it all out.

Re the vice, plenty of options out of the states so will keep looking - they are all far superior to what I have now.

Cheers

Hi Shae,
Will do mate.
Yeah pretty pumped on flyfishing again used to live and breath it as a kid and now I am all grown up I just relaised I can make the most of it..well, that and my old fishing mate that has been in the States for the last 12 years has moved back to NZ.
Got to appreciate what we have right on our doorsteps.

Havent got any waders for lake fishing though,so cant see myself standing waistdeep unless its a real hot afternoon!
