Howdy. I am traveling to Auckland from South Texas in early April with a mate. I’ll be in town for a few days before heading south to do some hunting. I am hoping to do some fishing while In town and am seeing if you guys could point me in the direction of a local guide within a reasonable distance from Queens Wharf area. I’m not the most educated on the fishing around these parts so hopefully someone call fill me in on what to target at that time. I currently fish both inshore and offshore out of Corpus Christi, TX in the Gulf of Mexico and would love to rip some lip.

Welcome TR, the main species will be snapper (not a snapper at all, a big porgy, Pagrus auratus) and yellowtail kingfish (Seriola lalandi, actually an amberjack LOL).

Someone needs to recommend this guy a decent soft bait/jigging charter out of Auckland to get a good experience of fishing in NZ. I'm a bit out of date, sorry.

Kia Ora bro (that's welcome in Maori)
Try Dr Hook Charters,Skipper Bruce will always put you onto the fish,I always have a great day out fishing on a very roomy boat.hes based at Westhaven Marina which is 30minute walk or less than a 5minute ride in a taxi from Queens Whalf. On a charter it's around nz$130.00pp for a full day fishing trip. fishing gear available.                     www.drhookcharters.co.nz
