i will be getting some beads off trademe i would be tying on 12 and 14,16

i am looking at getting 2.7mm rainbow beads are they better

Like to use the smallest fly for the most weight, #16 (Tiemco 4287) black bead Tungsten is about all I use to be honest, I'm not very imaginative when it comes to patterns these days just don't have time to tie much anymore, and I mostly find if a fish won't take a well presented #16 then they generally won't take anything. Will try and grab a pic for you, proportions are prefect IMO with the 2.3 but also tie with the 2.0 sometimes as well, just a Pheasant wing cover, dabbed with SuperGlue for longevity and 'sheen', slim body - never been a fan of beads against eyes on browns, just a personal thing I guess. with beads there are two ways to go and that is undersize or oversize and depends on the depth you want to get so on smaller hooks such as the size 16 i will use a 2ml bead and 14 could be either a 3ml if you are using it as a tag fly or 3.5 if you want to use it on the point to get depth.

i also use sz 12 with 3.5ml for point fly or a size 10 with a size 3.5 or 4ml on the point to get depth.

winter i predominatly use a size 10 on the point and get most of my fish on it
