Thanks fella's-back to work now-seems quite surreal.Just a few questions that came up and maybe Jimi or someone who nails a few could help me with?
The assist hooks were awesome for releasing the fish(low sided pontoon boat so i just bent down grabbed the jig in one hand and twisted the hook  out with the other-wicked seeing them realise they're free and disappear into the depths with a flick of the tail),but when i caught the better one and wanted a photo how do ya get m in without doin' damage? Are ya's using a net or gaff in the gob(?) i thought a hand in the gills would be too hard on them(?)
any way whatever helps would be appreciated!
Come on Murf-how about some dates?
Maybe a Wellywood trip so we're doin'the travelling(?) Jimi seems to do pretty well over there!?
anyway watching closely-cheers fellas

Good onya Diverbloke, great to hear first-time stories.  Great to get the Mrs into the action too, you might have trouble getting out again without her!  I'll let Jimi answer the landing bit but you are right  -don't go near the gills.
give it death!

Yeah man we got 9-all on the soft baits-all 35-40cm plus-the bigger ones are a blast on the sb rod-one small snap-lost 2 better ones .We were fishing dirty water on beaches that the NW had stirred up.I launched out of Duncan fri/night fished most of night for a snap-0.Got a bach there?
