We're all go again for November guys!! Entry this reduced this year, now just $75 as we want to encourage more anglers to the sport and our Club!

November is the best month of the year for this event with the kings on top and the jigging all time!

Lots of new season prizes from Shimano and our plenty kicked in by our other incredible sponsors. Plus the Dave Foley Memorial trophy again up for grabs (Catlin, just about time to give it back!)

All entries through the Tauranga Sport Fishing Club. 07 5788439 or 021702248.

Happy to field any questions here or give me a bell or [email protected]

First hundy entrants again receive our starter pack.  Will post a link to the entry form tomorrow.

Get jigging n casting.

Similar sort of stuff to the previous years, still finalizing!

A lower entry fee this year guys, so we are hoping for more angler numbers!

The timing for this one is mean, with already some nice fish turning up locally off surface baits!!

Cheers Roly

Not sure if I remember how to launch the boat but it coincides with days off so I will try and organise a team

So this wee jem just arrived yesterday for 1st place getter.

This is the new IBO 100 Floating Stickbait once again painted in custom KINGFISH. The lure is a hard wired through body. Its short stubby appearance allows lure to be cast on windy days fires off the rod tip like a rocket on calm days. The lure can simply be crank retrieved or for maximum affect the sweep method can be utalised.

Lure will be on display once again at this Jig Comp.

TOO GOOD AARON!!

Had fun selecting the latest SHIMANO for prizes which will be arriving at the Club any day. Keep an eye on FB as there are promos coming from our sponsors and the chance to win some gear.
This year we will be using the NZ Fishing Competition APP. Check it out guys as you will need to be registered to fish the Jigging & Casting Tournament in a couple of weeks. Grunta can tell you more, but it's very cool!  Register here

We again have the Hero shot with a $2500 prize from Garmin for the best Kingfish photo, also the Snapper Micro jigging section with full Shimano micro jig combo up for grabs.

Cheers Roly

Does this mean we are required to buy a NZ fishing comp measure or is a recognised measure supplied with the jigging comp entry?

Yes if you are going to enter your catches from on the water but I understand there will be an option to enter back at the club if you don't have a smartphone - Roly will confirm but he certainly has considered the case where someone may not have a browser enabled phone.

Also just a correction - the fishingcomp.co.nz website is fully enabled for mobile so you just register there (yes, it's free - just use the code DB Export) and you can do that prior to the tournament. Roly will set up the comp leaderboard which you apply to join and it's as easy as taking the pic and uploading when you have coverage.

Click here to register and if I can answer any more questions, let me know.

EDIT:  Overlooked one important point - all eligible entries will automatically go into the DB Export NZ Fishing Comp prizepool as well as the TC tournie so that's ~$12,500 in potential kingfish prizes, monthly draw and end of year major prize from DB.

Thanks Grunta. Great point! Really a two for one deal running these two events together.
We have measure boards here for $20 or will accept any of our original comp boards. To be safe I highly recommend that we ratify past years measure boards as being accurate, just in case they have been left in the elements and stretched or shrunk.

Definitely keep in mind the Micro jig snapper section too - Sunday we had work ups of mid water snapper at Mayor island just like the Hauraki Gulf! We did really well on the Snap's with livebaits (which is unusual for here) but i'm sure micro jigs would have cleaned up! The biggest fish was 9.83kg with others 5-7kg.

HI EVERYONE.

THE 2015 HEAVY METAL JIGGING & CASTING TOURNAMENT IS CANCELLED.

This is due to low angler numbers.

Apologies to those contestants that have already signed up and were pumped for this event. Please contact TSFC for a full refund.

Thanks to all of our awesome sponsors who have remained loyal to this event over the years. Its been a great 7 years but now it is time to draw the curtain on this one, and look to the future where we will build components of the jig comp into a new event for 2016. (Measure & Release being at the top of the list!)

We have loads of events planned this summer so keep an eye out on the Tauranga Sport Fishing Club calendar.

Cheers Roly

A real shame Rolly, you have always done an outstanding job with this competition. We had a boat lined up to fish it but were holding off to see weather because we couldn't fish reserve dates. Look forward to the '16 comp
