Hey guys, I recently bought a boat and have only had one successful day so far so I would like some help to find spots and how to fish them please! Preferably on the north shore would be good but they can’t be too far out as it’s just a small inflatable with a 3.3 hp outboard. Thanks!!

The best way is to find spots. look at a chart such as a Navionics App and look for areas close to shore that have some form of structure. Kayak fishermen get pretty crafty when it comes to finding fish in close so areas where they tend to fish. Don't invade their space though and treat them with respect.

I would launch from Army Bay and just head out as far as you are comfortable with. I’ve caught plenty of snaps there drifting with a Kabura out the back and flicking a micro jig up ahead. Good luck.
Oh what a smasher - two eggs and a rasher!

40 bucks gets you spotx book, enter the provided gps marks into your fishfinder, head for them
When I started kayak fishing, I did that. You do have to put time into those spots, as some of them only fish a particular tide, when it goes the other way..... kaka !!
There are heaps of spots from Cheltenham to Takapuna within 500m from the shoreline & good fishing too, right now
My home ground when fishing nth shore is Narrowneck, it fishes all year round, best is Mar - Jun & Sept - Nov
For any spots, its best to go out on bottom of the tide at spring tides, when the tides are really high & really low at low tide. You will see exposed rocks & foul, consider any channel that water would flow thru pass those rocks / foul
Best to fish last 2hrs of incoming or outgoing into change of light
Try drifting between the 2 green markers off NN on the beach side not the Rangi side using softies / sliders or anchor up so your baits are going into the foul that you saw at low, you want wind / tide the same way
Ive always fished this area from before first light & find its done by 3hrs after sunrise, the fish seem to drop off or swap sizes..... its stink fishing when there's multiple days of calm water

If you ever questioned the value of this site - you have the answers above. Good one guys.
Getting newbies going has to be a priority and what better way. I am wishing I had a small inflatable and 3.3 HP.
Oh wait - pretty much what I had - except no 3.3 HP to start. Just oars.
The 3 HP Merc came later. Xmas.

All along east coast bays is good and numerous launch spots where can drive on to beach and set up. As in Castor Bay, Mairangi Bay, Murrays, Rothsay bay, Browns Bay and Thor bay. All have fish off them, snapper all year, gurnard mainly winter, odd king Feb through till April. You can jig, soft bait and bait fish off here. Local Mack’s and big bits of fresh kahawai caught on spot are best for bigger snapper, but a nice flounder head can also work.
There’s lot of small snapper so lures or bigger baits work well. And in winter patience and going a bit further out can yield a good carrot catch on ledger rigs with small baits with decent 5/0 to 7/0 recurves with odd decent snap as by catch.

Haha I also started with oars, but after an hour long paddle to get to fishing spots my arms decided an outboard was essential

My name is Dexter and I love fishing. I use my comping car when I'm going fishing on the weekend. But I've got a little problem about mice or rats in my camping car and I don't know how to deal with.  These mice are so harmful, causing mess. I don't know what to do ? But I have two options, maybe bringing another pet with me as "a cat" when I'm going to fish or use rat poison to deal with. Thinking on the first option, I'm afraid that the cat will escape from the camping car leaving me alone with these harmful rats or mice and become a wild cat. The second option a friend advised me to use this product "anti-rodent" https://www.stopspammers which proved effective for him and I would like to know the opinion of some people who had the same problem, or the opinion of experts. Could somebody advise me on because it's very annoying to deal with these mice ?

 Thank you for your understanding.

Dexter.

Good morning Dexter. Sorry to hear about your little rat problem. How big are those rats in Madagascar? My advice is to burn the car. Problem solved!

Yeah , me too , I had a smartwave dingy ( one of the 1st ) and  moved up (? )from oars to a 2hp merc  and then a 6hp 4/  which was capable of pushing smartwave to dangerous  wildly  unstable speeds  ( it really was a terrible dingy   flexing and bending all over the place )
I wish I was young again .... Id be heaps smarter than this time
