If you watch the first minute of Neil Mackellows Mastercast clip; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wGQls_8zsw
The only time he straightens his arm is to finish the dip and the end of the outswing and at the completion of his punch/pull at the end of the cast this guy was five times world champ.
There is no such thing as a pendulum cast it is a "Style" of casting with a number of different variations the low swing pendulum features straighter arms than Neil's high swing style. The same applies to the OTG style an easy cast is very different to an South African so OTG is again a "style".
This was Neil's style for the high swing pendulum, the OTG styles seem closer to having a straight arm so it would depend on what style of cast you are asking about.

Some casting styles utilize the right arm as a fulcrum for the rod to pivot around.

The more advanced styles have you lead with the hips and body before punching through the rod with the right while pulling in hard with the left.

Lack of motivation, self-confidence, gear and not wanting a repeat of Kawerau some five years ago where I was made to feel don't be here.

Once you go along mate and join in im sure you will soon get your motivation and self confidence back again and they have already said they would make you feel welcome.

Im sure if you go you will enjoy it , i went to the Pania one the other day and they looked like they were having a ball and a few laughs etc. So go for it mate.

Jock dosent allow any crap to be flung ( unless its in my direction LOL ) Different bunch of people running the show and casting Mark . What happened years ago is past history .

No one is under any pressure to blast out any particular distance . Its a event to help people cast better.

You are more than welcome Mark.and I think you will find you can cast better than you think - its like riding a bike- just hurts abit more now and then, as for not being welcome- well thats some thing you need to sort out for your self as  alot of people have moved on these days, As stated by Neil- if anyone steps out of line Jock would be the first person to sort it very smartly so come have a go catch up with some old mates and have some fun

You know deep down, i think you really want to be there O'Neil as you are reading this topic.

Mate, I dont know you from a bar of soap, and ive never gone to any casting competition, so i dont know what goes on, or what has happened behind the scenes in the past, but i do know this, "When the going gets tough the tough get going"!

Mate, step up to the plate and hit the ball out of the park, lifes to short dont sweat the small stuff, I recon you can do it, you are showing some interest, "Unleash the Beast", go and enjoy your hobby and  have fun,

Just do it ! Thumbs Up

Any of these events going to be around Wellington soonish?
I can't see myself being a competition caster, but would be great to have a go and get some feedback.
