Hey Mups, I think the Saltiga Exp is a bit big for jigging, the lower ratio serves a couple of purposes. Makes matching the rods vertical sweep with the line retrieved each half rotation achievable & makes it easier to get a turn on a surging fish.
Tight lines

I had a good crank with spin on Monday. Overhead is easier as lower retrieve so easier to jig and land fish. Spin definately has its advantages and I may get another spin reel to jig with
Used my saltiga 5000h. To be honest you can jig with it, it really cranks so need to have some fitness. But the biggest downside of 121cm retrieve is landing the buggers. Even 10kg fish it's hard to gain the line back when they are sulking
May grab a saltiga 5000 as the 95cm retrieve will be way easier for all day jigging and Ne way easier to land them kings
5000 size will hold about 270/280m pe6 which can break around 95lb with the good stuff. Lighter and easier than those bigger models

Isn't one major advantage of spin is that you can buy one good reel and match it to both jigging and topwater rods?

You could, but stickbaiting with low gear or jigging with HG reel isnt practical

There is some reels offering 104 cm retrieve which will do both but neither fantastic. 95cm jig and 121 topwater is much better prefered. Besides topwater can turn in in a second and best to have separate combos so can flick out a sticky in a second
I do believe the hook up rate is better on spin than overhead, can use lighter jigs as drop faster and don't need to worry about line lay. That and a screaming saltiga is just sick
