So, I finally pulled finger and picked a semi serious jigging reel,  should I be looking at any other rod other the JM500 ?

Any one else here played with the Avet HX?  Only reason I bought is we have all Avet game gear and served us real well so far..

i believe a powerspell 500 will serve you perfectly got one myself for christmas and it has taken all the work out of my jigging some how the rod works the jig and all you have to concentrate on is the right action the jm500 is great for me as i only jig 400gm jigs or heavier. When loaded up on a fish you feel the true power of a jm it bends right through past the hand grip true power!!!!!!!!!!!!Clap

Awesome reels those Avet HX's, Boulder has one and loves it!. Very handy having harness lugs when fishing 37.

Another option for a good jigstick for fishing 37 with a parabolic action is the new Penn Torque 301 or 302. I use a Penn Torque 300 loaded with 37 and run 16kg's of drag over mine and it loves it Thumbs%20Up

There are some new 2006 JM500 rods at Decoro.  Not as flash as Power Spell but just as good and cheaper too!
give it death!
