I’ve recently moved to Waiheke, will be living in Goldie for quite time. I’d love to catch a snapper or two each week to keep my mind sharp, but I’m completely new to surfcasting—I’ve only ever fished on charters before.

Would really appreciate any advice on good spots, gear setup, and general tips for a beginner!

I was walking around Putaki Bay the other day—stunning views, but it didn’t seem like the best fishing spot. Am I right about that, or is it worth a try?
