Hey guys new to the forums.

I've just decided to retire my 60hp suzuki dt60 Sick. I was wondering if anyone could chime in with the KG and HP ratio I can use on the boat. I don't have the budget the latest and greatest so will be looking for a 2 stroke upgrade. If anyone knows the specs (can't find anything online) that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks heaps!!

I don't have any knowledge on the Fleetline Sapphire but how did it perform with the DT60?  The weight of that motor is 104kg according to Google so I would think the 60HP t0 75hp range would be fine.  With a boat that age it really would pay to get the transom checked out.

I do understand budget limitations   but upgrading (?) to a 2 stroke  .... from a 2 stroke .
As Smudge asks ..... how did it go with the 60hp ?   and what makes you want to take a step sideways.  If the 60 was ok  ..... the devil you know is better than the one you dont ,  so unless the Zuki is knackered  you might be better off giving it a bit of a hoozle up.Big smile
Now having said the above   I have been pondering ditching my Honda 35hp   and trying to find a good rebuilder  Johnson or Evinrude 70hp 2 stroke ...... yeah , I know Embarrassed   but this Honda  weighs  almost the same as a 70hp Jonnie with half the power  and in my Marlborough Dart  4.2m 2 peeps and a 20kg aux ( 6hp Zuki 4/ )   power is borderline . My only real concern is fuel consumption   but a day out , full fish bin and I use about 6l  ($17 )  worth of juice with the Honda  and I figure that if the Johnson  chewed through  double that Im still in the black.  Damn  I do like that Honda tho .

The reason I’m wanting to swap the Suzuki dt60 is because they are so rare and replacement parts are nil. It goes good and the transom seems like it’s in good shape. I’ve also got a leak in the lower gearbox that’s letting water seep into the gear oil which isn’t fixable. The seals are fine but the plate itself has so much corrosion that it doesn’t seal so out with that motor and after something that is in high supply.

The only reason I was asking if I could push the limits is because Yamaha 90s come up all the time for reasonable pricing. I’ve seen a few on the same model of boat so might give that a go and reinforce the transom with some thick aluminium plating.

4 stroke technology is definitely not in the budget for this oldie as well as losing power because of them being so much heavier per hp

The boat itself is pretty damn heavy and I think any smaller than a 60 would be troublesome.

I had a Yam 90hp and loved it .
Gotta watch them too tho as I have seen a couple personally that have split the gearcase  and I think its a build up of corrosion / case a bit thin  where the bearing carrier fits in .  Even  70 hp yam would probly be ok . Its possible that the ole Zuki is  bit shy of its original 60hp.
If you after a specific model  you could try advertising  and try and pick one up before its traded in , both you and the seller might be better off , and you may get to give it a water test drive  too.
