I live in the arctic and fly-fish mostly fresh water for Northern Pike (Jackfish). I am super lucky to be in Rarotonga for 2 weeks next March and hope to land my first salt water fish on the fly - It doesn't need to be a 10lb bonefish, I would be happy with just about anything pulling my line. Unfortunately I am unable to get to Aitutaki.

I have a # 9 TFO BVK (large arbor reel with WF9F) and hope this will suffice to catch .....something? We are hoping to stay around Muri Lagoon. I hope I can get some local knowledge to prepare but cannot wait to socialize at the fishing club in Raro. Maybe I'll bring some pics of my top Arctic fish. Top Questions:

What is the most common fish caught on the fly in Raro? (GT's?)

What are your top 3 favourite flies in Raro?

What are 3 decent spots to fish on Raro  (if your willing to share :-))?

If you had to pick one fly line for my #9 what would it be (sinking tip, etc.)?

Feel free to chime in with any other feedback. Much much appreciated.

Marc

Hi Arctic, I suggest you re post this in the flyflingers section for more answers. I have just returned from Aitutaki but did have a day in Raro where I caught a few reefies. I will post some advice but imagine you will get some replies from guys who have done more than me.
